Asha Ganpat's "Cut, Skin, Peel, Flay: New Carvings for Found Things" solo exhibition exlores carvings are objects; the flattest sculptures I've ever made. Using only a blade, I flay the image to uncover the meat of the cardboard, dull against the glossy layer. I set out to alter the imagined planes by removing sections of the image: fill negative space, add absence, obfuscate, reveal. I superimpose the new white stark forms that flow over, through, beneath, inside, between, and behind the image, becoming part of the image...remaking the image.
