MAM Bridges
Students in grades 7 and 8 are invited to participate in Bridges, a free intergenerational art program that brings together people with Alzheimer’s and dementia and middle school students for interactive explorations of artworks, storytelling, and creative expression. The program takes place at the Montclair Art Museum over the course of seven Friday afternoons, 3:30–5:30 p.m.
The program consists of:
- An initial afternoon training workshop that will offer insights on dementia and introduce students to tools and strategies for engaging with patients.
- Gallery conversations in which students will be paired with adults with dementia.
- Several hands-on workshops where students will have the chance to work collaboratively with seniors on a range of creative projects involving, art, music, and storytelling.
- Students receive a total of 10 hours of community service credit for participating in the full program.
